Implementation Fidelity & Pre-Launch Notice: This policy accurately reflects the technical implementation and privacy controls of the Find Nearby People application (Android package: com.findnearby.people). Official registered corporate entity name, registered office address, and designated Grievance Officer appointment details are currently in pending corporate registration status and will be finalized prior to commercial release.

1. Introduction

Find Nearby People ("we", "our", or "us") provides a location-based social discovery and messaging platform. We are committed to protecting your personal privacy and safeguarding your sensitive information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Android mobile application and backend services.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, gender, gender preference for discovery, and date of birth (to verify you are 18+ years of age). Your password is never stored in plaintext; it is protected with salted cryptographic hashes (bcrypt).

Profile Information

We collect the profile photos and avatars you upload, your selected interest categories (minimum of 3 required for discovery matching), and your personal bio.

Location Data (Sensitive Permission)

  • We collect your device's geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude) only when you explicitly grant location permission.
  • How Location is Used: Location coordinates are processed on our secure server solely to calculate approximate relative distance in kilometers to other active users within your selected 8–20 km radius.
  • Location Privacy Safeguards: We NEVER disclose your exact GPS coordinates to other users. Coordinates displayed on nearby discovery feeds are deliberately obfuscated by ~300–400 meters using an automated privacy jitter algorithm.
  • You can clear your location data or enable Ghost Mode at any time in the app settings, which instantly removes your profile from all nearby discovery feeds.

Communications & Media

We collect messages exchanged between mutually matched users and WebRTC connection signaling metadata for peer-to-peer voice and video calls.

3. How We Share Information

  • Public Profile: Other registered users in your discovery radius can view your display name, calculated age, bio, interests, city name, approximate distance in kilometers, and uploaded public photos.
  • Matched Partners: When you mutually match with another user, you can view each other's profile and exchange direct messages. Your private email address, exact GPS coordinates, and internal account identifiers are strictly withheld from matched partners.
  • No Third-Party Sale: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or precise location coordinates to advertisers or data brokers.

4. Data Security

We employ modern, industry-standard security safeguards to protect your personal information:

  • All communications between the mobile app and our servers use Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3 / HTTPS).
  • Authentication sessions use cryptographically signed JSON Web Tokens (JWT) with strict expiration and invalidation controls.
  • Storage sandboxes on Android explicitly disable automated data extraction (allowBackup=false).

5. Account Deletion & Data Retention

You have the absolute right to delete your account and all associated personal data at any time:

  • In-App Deletion: Navigate to Profile > Settings > Delete Account.
  • Web / Email Request: You may request account deletion by contacting our support team at privacy@findnearbypeople.com.
  • Cascade Deletion: Upon account deletion, our database executes a permanent cascade deletion:
    • Your user record, login credentials, and session tokens are completely erased.
    • All uploaded photos are queued for permanent deletion from cloud storage.
    • All mutual matches, pending likes, and private chat message histories are permanently deleted.

6. Children's Privacy

Find Nearby People is strictly restricted to individuals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If we discover an account belongs to a minor, it is immediately terminated.
