Safety Guidelines & Privacy Safeguards

Your Safety is Our Architecture: Every feature in Find Nearby People is designed with strict privacy boundaries. We engineer our algorithms so you can connect with confidence, knowing your exact physical coordinates are never shared.

1. How Our Location Privacy Architecture Works

Unlike traditional social apps that expose precise GPS coordinates or exact real-time map pins, Find Nearby People incorporates multi-layered location obfuscation:

  • Automated Privacy Jitter (~300–400m): When calculating proximity, our server deliberately applies random coordinate jitter. Nearby users see an approximate relative distance (e.g., "within 2 km"), never your street address, building, or exact map location.
  • Adjustable Proximity Radius (8–20 km): You control how far your discovery extends. Whether you want to discover people within your immediate neighborhood (8 km) or expand across the city (up to 20 km), the boundary is entirely up to you.
  • Ghost Mode: Want to take a break or maintain total invisibility? Toggle Ghost Mode in your profile settings to immediately vanish from all discovery feeds without deleting your account or chat history.
  • Clear Location: You can wipe your stored latitude and longitude coordinates from the database with a single tap at any time.

2. Built-In Protection & Moderation Tools

Strict 18+ Age Verification

Find Nearby People is strictly restricted to adults aged 18 and older. Our registration verifies birthdates, and our API strictly strips calendar birthdates from public profiles—displaying only your calculated age in years.

Mutual-Consent Matching

Unsolicited direct messaging is impossible on Find Nearby People. Private chats can only be initiated when two people have mutually liked each other's profile, giving you complete control over who enters your inbox.

Instant User Blocking & Reporting

If someone makes you uncomfortable, violates our guidelines, or behaves inappropriately:

  • Block User: Instantly severs matches, hides your profile two-ways, and prevents any further messaging or call attempts.
  • Report User: Submit a categorized report (Harassment, Impersonation, Inappropriate Content). Reported accounts are flagged for priority moderation review.

Private WebRTC Voice & Video Calling

You can verify your match through real-time voice or video calling directly inside the app using encrypted peer-to-peer WebRTC connections, without having to share your personal phone number, WhatsApp, or personal social media handles.

3. Best Practices for Meeting Connections in Person

When transitioning a digital connection to a real-life meetup, always prioritize your physical safety and well-being:

  • Always Meet in Busy, Public Places: Choose well-lit, populated environments such as bustling cafes, popular restaurants, shopping malls, or public parks during daylight hours. Never agree to meet at a private residence, hotel room, or secluded location for a first meeting.
  • Inform a Friend or Family Member: Share details of your plans with someone you trust, including where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to return.
  • Arrange Your Own Independent Transportation: Drive yourself, take public transit, or use a rideshare service. Never let your connection pick you up at your home or work on a first date.
  • Never Send Money or Financial Information: Legitimate connections will never ask for wire transfers, gift cards, UPI payments, cryptocurrency, or banking assistance. If anyone asks for money, block and report them immediately.
  • Stay Sober and Watch Your Personal Items: Keep your drink and personal belongings (phone, purse, keys) in your line of sight at all times.

4. Absolute Right to Permanent Account Erasure

We believe you should have complete ownership over your digital footprint. When you decide to leave Find Nearby People:

  • Navigate to Profile > Settings > Delete Account.
  • Our backend executes an automated cascade deletion: your profile, credentials, uploaded photos, matches, and chat histories are permanently purged from active databases and cloud storage buckets.
